Meet The Winemaker

Joe Forest, a Seattle-native, grew up with a love of European culture as inspired by his father, a high school social studies teacher and home winemaker. After attending the University of Washington, Joe struggled to find his career path. While working at Seattle's famed Wild Ginger restaurant, Joe developed a love of Washington State wine. His position at the restaurant also served to support Joe's Bob Dylan concert addiction--funding many concerts around the country and Europe. Still searching for a career, Joe apprenticed as a carpenter, remodeling houses in the Seattle area. With Washington wine still on his mind, Joe started volunteering at a prominent Woodinville winery--which eventually prompted him to follow his interest of winemaking, and move to the east side of Washington state. After moving to Walla Walla and enrolling at the Institute of Enology & Viticulture at Walla Walla Community College, he quickly accepted a Crush Assistant position at Seven Hills Winery. He further built upon his skills by working as Assistant Winemaker for Dunham Cellars. Having the opportunity to learn and be mentored by some of the best winemakers in Washington State, Joe soon developed his own personal style. Joe is very excited to take the Winemaker position with Patit Creek Cellars in Walla Walla.

Joe, along with his wife Mollie, a Spokane native, their daughter Lucy and their dog Fritz live in Walla Walla and are thrilled to be a part of the burgeoning wine industry.
