Vineyard Dog

Fritz Forest is not an easy dog to explain; I struggle to find the words.

Surely anyone reading this biography is a dog lover, so how do I candy coat the fact that most of our Walla Walla friends are surprised that he is still alive. Really, what can you say about a dog that has chewed all the shingles off of the back of your house...twice. Or has a penchant for burying his bones between our bed pillows. Or waits until he thinks we are asleep before tip toeing across our hardwood floors to settle in on our couch for his evening slumber.

Fritz Forest came to live with us on Valentine's Day of 2006 courtesy of our local Humane Society. Lucky for him, our family was ready to offer buckets full of unconditional love to our new pup. We should have known from our first meeting, with Fritz constantly going for a bucket of dirty mop water, as a sign of what was to come.

He is a high energy German Shepherd 'mix' with beautiful markings. If he sees you from our fenced backyard, he sounds like the baddest dog on the block. However, he is very gentle around our 14-month-old daughter. She has been very helpful in making him understand where he is on the Forest-Family-Totem-Pole.

He is a great dog and we love him very much, in spite of himself!
